Having refurbished the interior of their new home the garden was a blank canvass having been cleared of all but a lone apple teee. The couple wanted a generous social space to entertain family and frends, and provide a calm escape from the demands of their rapidly expanding business and challanges of a care role at the local cancer centre.
To disguise and soften the box like enclosure of the garden, DIG developed a flowing radial footprint. A sloped perennial border fronted by a hand crafted sinuous bench, and topped with a majestic acer palmatum provided a sense of enclosure. A generously proportioned grey porcelain tiled patio bordered by a outdoor kitchen with bespoke granit top and rendered base echoed the contemporary styling of the whole.
Prairie style planting including stipe tenuissima, echinacea and salvia provided long summer colour and autumn structure. Statuesque fennel, rosemary, thyme and sage provided for those summer BBQs.
The clients eclectic collection of 'vintage finds' brought a unique personality to the space.
