new swimming pool and borders

DIG was comissioned to consider the scale and location of a proposed new garden swimming pool to address the clients concern that its impact would be detrimental to the primarily green space.

DIG proposed 'sinking' the pool and new patio below existing lawn level and introducing a dramatic long narrow raised planting border to partially screen and seperate the pool from the main garden.

The raised bed was planted with low evergreen plants such as pinus mungo for winter structure, and a billowing mass of summer perennials repeated along its length. An area of clipped yew balls was underplanted with evergreen foliage providing a calming counterpoint to the pool planting.

Automatic irrigation and selective lighting were incorporated throughout the scheme, completed during the hot summer of 2021.
